making the impossible, possible

KittyTraining camp:

Phase one- Speak

video

Phase two- fetch

video

Phase Three- walk on a leash

Some might call this turning a cat into a dog, I call it proving to the world that cats are smart. Not only are they smarter than dogs, they are smart enough to make us think we are training them. When in reality, they are training us to say, "speak" when they meow. They make us think we are taking them for walk, when...in reality...they are taking us for walks.

Just remember....Dogs have owners, Cats have STAFF.

memoirs of a housewife

So....the place is coming along and getting more comfortable. When we first moved here we needed a place and fast. We found the place we live in 4 days. Its close to the barn and close to a beach so we find it comfortable. We still need more furniture, but I am getting creative and improvising.
This is what the place looked like before and after we got out stuff.

This is the spare room...it's still used as a holding place for random things. We'd like a desk, a futon, and more bookshelves. Of course, more lamps and a standing fan.

This is the living room facing the front door...we still a coffee table and ends tables with some lamps. Currently we use a storage box with a blanket on top for the coffee table...told you I had to be creative.

This is the living room facing the kitchen. In the empty space we are going to put a dining table. We are thinking on the sits flush to the wall long ways, but can expand to fit more people.
I'd like some area rugs too :)

This is the bedroom...I love that I can leave the door and the window open and get a steady breeze all day...smells good too :)

These are some pictures of inspiration...I have
some work to do, if we choose to stay in the
place we live in now. All of these pictures
reflect how to utilize a small space.

But I love the way these rooms look regardless of where we live.

How to create an "office" in a small space

*Notice the organization...ahh love it

This magazine is awesome...I got so many ideas of storage and organization from it...like a cork board message frame and ceral box mail holder...so cool :)

the new little one

We've now lived in Hawaii for 4 months and we've seen a lot of things. I'm slowly doing more and more things to get the house more comfortable...the best thing that makes everything better is...Einstein.
He is 7 and a half weeks old and came from the barn. He is the cutest little thing. When we play with him, he gets so excited that he doesn't know what else do but jump and flip himself onto the ground. We've been to the doctor already and killed those stinky fleas. He weighs 1.4 pounds...but will grow quickly :) He plays ALL day...which means he sleeps ALL night....except last night when he decided to bite at my feet :) I built him a cat fort out of old cardboard boxes. It has trap doors and hidden toys and treats :)

Jason and I love him so much!

He does a good job keeping us entertained.

It's almost been one year since Kelly died, and though Einstein makes me think of her...we don't get the feeling that we are trying to replacing her. He is a very unique cat....he LIKES car rides and chases his tail :) Kelly was also unique...she had a cat stuffed animal toy that she thought was her baby :) I love them both for different reasons.

We hope we can give Einstein a happy life :)

a visitor in my hometown

Thanks to my family and their dance of transferring frequent flyer miles, I was able to go to Pensacola while Jason was in Washington D.C. for ten days. A nice treat after finally deciding to suck it up and deal with being in Hawaii by myself...well without Jason...I would have people to be around. Lets just say I would have lived at the barn.
I had a great time...I had only been away for a little over two months, so I was glad to go back and hang out for awhile.
While I was there, I, of course, got to see my family and friends, but I also got spend time at the Leaning Post Ranch and spend some time with Shelby (my love), the rest of the horses, the students, and Mrs. Fran and Mr. Newman.
I was able to spend the night at my Grandma's house with my Mom. Which, by the way, we laughed and laughed. Especially when my Grandma would make jokes I never expected her to think of :) Grandma taught me how to make her famous biscuits.
I went with my parents to Blackwater River for some kayaking...I had never done that before. I like it much better than canoeing. Single Kayaking is great for control freaks like myself.
I spent a day with my sister out to lunch and to the mall. It was fun to catch up on sister time.
Then there was girls night. It was a wild party. So wild I don't think I should share and put the incriminating information on the world wide web.....
okay I'll tell you.... you have to promise not to tell though....we made dinner...and organized the linen closet...and.....colored princess posters while watching Cinderella two! I know! Scandalous.
I love it that we can be kids together though :)
I really had a great time. Thank you family!
~Here are some pictures of my trip~

our lot in life...it's not a lot, but it's our life :)

Aloha! Jason and I are now in our second month of living in the Aloha state. It has it's pros and cons, but we like it so far.

For example,
pro: Pirates 4 is being filmed on our Island!!
con: can't drive to Pensacola, no matter how long it takes
pro: the Rooster that hangs around our house is a pimp
con: he crows funky at weird hours of the night
pro:we have Papaya growing in our little backyard
con: the birds eat it...also a pro to watch them, but we want some too :(

We have made some friends and think we have FINALLY found a church. We will give it a couple more tries but they seem like a church community we can be apart of. We play softball on Tuesday and Thursday nights and I ride whenever I can. Thanks to Kelly, a fellow instructor, I am able to ride her horse, Hula, when she can't. Of course, she has to nearly twist my arm to get me to do it for her :)
Occasionally, I jump on a school horse and ride around. Especially, if Sunshine needs to let off some energy before a lesson. She is Mustang so running and running fast is what she loves...I have to admit that's what I like about her :)
I have added a video of me riding Sunshine bareback...however, to make it more exciting I added some cool cowgirl music :) Humor my nerdiness :)
video
Jason always encourages me to ride more...because he knows it keeps me sane.
Even being around the animals helps too:) I enjoy working at the barn. I am still trying to make sure I am doing everything correct as far the business side goes. Notes, reciepts, schedules, etc. It makes it easier to write notes when Chicago helps me remeber what we did in the lessons :)I feel very welcomed at the barn and for that I am thankful. I have to say that the other instructors are hilarious and I enjoy hearing their horse stories and jokes. Jason is getting very busy at work. He is a one man team that used to be three. Close-out season is coming around which means he will be working more and more. He does like to play softball to release some stress. Most evenings, we go out and play catch. I am trying to get Jason to come do barn chores more often. He has helped twice so far...but mark my words...we will scoop poop more.....bwwwahhhahahahahahaha.
